Wed Jul 24 Livingston County Choirs Youth Camp

This four-day camp will work with singers on choral development and rhythmic movement. The camp will end with a small concert where the campers will perform the songs that have been learned during the week. (families are invited to attend). The camp directors are experienced teachers who love music and want to share with your children! When registering, please include T-shirt size and not whether this is an adult or child size.

Cromaine District Library Summer Concert Series 2024 Cromaine Library's Summer Concert Series is back for the 16th year! If you hear the rumble of motorcycles, it's just the First annual American Legion Riders Hell to Paradise PTSD Awareness Ride! Riders from all across the state and other states will be coming to town starting Thursday. The ride is Taking place this Friday through Sunday. Registration taking place Thursday from noon until 4:00 at Pinckney American Legion Post #419. Pulled pork or sloppy joe dinner provided by the post from 4-sold out. The concert takes place at the Brighton High School. This is a free service. No questions asked. Put pills in a zip lock container, they can be mixed together. We prefer not to have the medicine container. Keep liquid medications separate. Dump into a zip lock bag with enough paper towel to soak up the liquid. Needles must be the proper disposal container, either purchased from a pharmacy or use a plastic laundry detergent bottle. Reseal the bottle and tape it. Do your part to keep medications from being abused. Do not flush unused medication. The Big Red Barrel Project is part of Livingston County Community Alliance.

The Livingston County Genealogical Society will hold an in-person meeting, August 1st at 7pm at the First United Methodist Church in Howell, 1230 Bower Street. We will also offer a zoom link to this meeting; the link may be found on our Facebook page the week of the meeting. All are welcome. “Researching Immigration and Naturalization Records”, our speaker, Mark Mullinax, is professional genealogist with more than 30 years of experience in family history research. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, he received a Bachelor Degree from Calvin College and then a Masters in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University. He recently retired from the Brighton District Library and he and his wife currently split their time between the Villages in Florida and Traverse City, MI. While at the Brighton Library, Mark helped many people in their research and greatly helped in preserving the history of Brighton and Livingston County and making that history easily accessible to others.

Day of Caring Volunteer Registration will be open May 1 - June 28 Get involved in the largest one-day community service event in Livingston County on Wednesday, August 7th! The Livingston County United Way’s Day of Caring brings together volunteers from the community connecting them with local nonprofits, schools and community organizations to complete hands-on service projects. LCUW collects worksite proposals from local residents, seniors, schools, disabled residents and non-profit agencies. The work is often minor household repair projects, cleaning and yard work that the homeowner is not able to do on their own. Anyone can recommend a work site and are encouraged to apply for a neighbor or friend who needs extra help. Deadline for worksite projects is June 10th. Invite your friends, family, and co-workers to take part and make an impact on many lives in Livingston County at this year’s Day of Caring on Wednesday, August 7. Sun Sep 15 Howell Air Force JROTC Golf Outing

The Howell High School Air Force JROTC program is hosting its 9th annual golf outing on September 15th at Willow Brook Golf Club in Byron. The golf outing serves as the only fundraiser for the year toward the program, which began in 2014. The event includes 18-holes with a cart, a continental breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cost is $100 per golfer. In addition to golfers, they are seeking contributions in various areas to ensure a successful outing. Hole and cart sponsorships, donations of gift cards, and items that can be put up for silent auction or placed into gift baskets to raffle off to participants are all being sought. Donations toward the event help support Livingston County students from Howell, Brighton, Hartland, Fowlerville, and Pinckney Every school year, there are over 100 students who participate in the program as cadets. The program had 2 cadets receive full scholarships this past year. They were also recently awarded the Distinguished Unit Award with Merit- which is the highest possible rank by the US Air Force for a high school program. The JROTC program is dedicated to fostering leadership, character development, and community service among our cadets. By participating in our program, these young individuals gain valuable skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility that will benefit them throughout their lives.
