Entries can only be submitted by hunters with a valid State of Michigan hunting license notched with the harvest date. We also have a 50/50 raffle, raffles for many donated prizes, and a gun raffle. Positive Community Impact While there is no charge to enter the buck pole, the raffles help raise funds for the club that are then used to provide benefits to the community. The Club sponsors the Whitmore Lake High School Trap Shooting Team, supports Michigan Special Olympics, and sends underprivileged kids to the Michigan United Conservation Corps summer camps. Club History The Whitmore Lake Rod & Gun Club was established in 1938 by five young men who were seeing more and more “no hunting” signs. They chipped in together and leased some hunting land. As the price of the lease increased year after year, the members decided to purchase their own hunting land. In 1949 the Club purchased 27 acres from George and Sally Romine. This land is still the home of the club where hunting, fishing, and socializing occur today. The Club’s charitable giving started early too. In 1946 the club joined the Michigan United Conservation Club and in 1947 began sending kids to MUCC camp. A tradition that continues today.
