'She's got Grit' Scholarship is for mothers that are currently enrolled In high school. The goal is to raise a minimum of $5000 by August 2022 to support a young mother through the 2022-2023 school year. Scholarship funds would be allocated for necessities like diapers, breast pumps, formula, etc; but most importantly childcare so mom can focus on earning her diploma. The Brighton Area Historical Society will sponsor a free exhibit of civil war rifles, pistols, swords, uniforms, and ordnance at the City of Brighton Arts, Culture and History (COBACH) Center in downtown Brighton next to the Millpond. The Big Red Barrel will be at Recycle Livingston Saturday June 4, 2022 from 9 am to 1 am to collect unused medications and used needles. Recycle Livingston is located at 170 Catrell Drive in Howell. This is a free service. No questions asked. Put pills in a zip lock container, they can be mixed together. We prefer not to have the medicine container. Keep liquid medications separate. Dump into a zip lock bag with enough paper towel to soak up the liquid. Needles must be the proper disposal container, either purchased from a pharmacy or use a plastic laundry detergent bottle. Reseal the bottle and tape it. Do your part to keep medications from being abused. Do not flush unused medication. The Big Red Barrel Project is part of Livingston County Community Alliance.

The Steven Price Memorial Golf Outing and Dinner will benefit Reaching Higher, a Livingston County-based personal leadership program for teens and young adults, and Dawn Farm, a long-term addiction and recovery center in Ann Arbor. The event will be held at Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center in Plymouth on June 10, beginning at 9 a.m. The event is held in memory of Steven Price, a former high school athlete who lost his life to addiction in 2017. Reaching Higher has brought its program of self-confidence, character-building and stress management to Livingston County schools for nearly 25 years. Fri Jun 10 Arise Church Barn Sale

Arise Church Barn Sale in Pinckney  Arise Church in Pinckney has been having annual barn sales for quite a few years. They are well known for their bag sales, which net buyers great deals.  The bag sale is $8.00, then reduced after 12 noon on Saturday.  Most general merchandise that fits into a provided grocery bag qualifies for the bag sale.  Antiques, collectibles, and upscale clothing, located in the church building, are priced separately. The bag sale, along with large items that are too large for a bag, are sold in the barn. The proceeds support the Arise Church Capital Fund, but in addition, also help people in need.  Community agencies are contacted, who then refer clients needing specific items. On occasion, people or programs that distribute items for charitable purposes will be assisted in finding what they need for their particular mission. The Arise congregation considers their barn sale to be more than just a fundraiser. They like being able to contribute something back to the community, as well. The sale this year is on Friday, June 10th from 9 AM to 5 PM , and Saturday, June 11th from 9 AM to 3 PM.
