LCCC Spring Coin Show
The Livingston County Coin Club will hold its annual spring coin show on Saturday, April 19th, from 9:30 - 3:00. It will be held at the Howell Eagles hall at 141 Schroeder Park Dr, Howell, MI 48843. Mindfulness Meditation
It has been noted in many printed articles that Mindfulness Meditation guidance is one of the most requested classes. Mindful Meditation combined with breathwork are effective tools to assist us in building and maintaining resilience to many life changes. We will practice several guided meditations which focus on reducing stress, anxiety, worry and fear. Personal comfort is important, so chairs will be used. The 21st Annual South Lyon Area Creek Cleanup Event will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Lunch at Noon. Volunteers will meet at 400 McMunn Street, at the Michigan Seamless Tube and Pipe Company Truck Parking Lot, South Lyon, MI 48178.
Rain or Shine. To conserve and protect our waterways, volunteers will safely remove trash and debris from South Lyon Area Creeks, Streams, and Waterways. Areas include South Lyon, Lyon Township, and Green Oak Township waterways.
All waterways are within the Huron River Watershed. Clean and cleared waterways allow for the free flow of stormwater, which leads to the Huron River, reducing the possibility of flooding area streets, residences and businesses.

Cleary Hosts "Strings In Bloom" Concert
Celebrate spring with a “Strings in Bloom” free concert at Cleary University! Cleary partners with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra for a third concert on the school’s campus.
“Strings in Bloom,” a string quartet performance, will take place Friday, April 25 from 7 pm to 9 pm at Cleary Commons. A social hour begins at 7 pm with complementary light snacks and refreshments. Beer and wine are available for purchase. The string quartet begins performing at 8 pm.
The concert is free and open to the entire community.

The Howell Nature Center is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive.
Howell, MI April 25th, 2025, The Howell Nature Center will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on April 25th, 2025 from 11:00AM to 4:00PM at the Howell Naure Center.

“The Howell Nature Center is committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations,” said CEO Tina Bruce. “This blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues and neighbors the opportunity to save lives.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types 0 negative, A negative, and B negative.

Empty Bowls At Hartland High School
On Thursday May 1, 2025 from 5:30-7pm, there is a fundraiser to support the student food pantry at Hartland High School. For $25, attendees will get a handmade bowl and free soup that they can eat out of their bowl. All proceeds will benefit the student food pantry.
Additionally, there will be art displays, live music and an interactive mural.

The Hartland Audubon Nature Club welcomes Jim McGrath, founder of Nature Discovery, Williamston, to present his most popular program, “Michigan Snakes Alive”.
He will feature some of Michigan’s non-venomous snakes and allow the audience to become familiar with live specimens. This is an ideal program for budding herpetologists of all ages or anyone wishing to overcome ophidiophobia. Fears and misconceptions about snakes will be addressed in addition to information about snake biology and ecology. Individual species' habits and characteristics will follow while viewing live examples. At presentation's end, all attendees are encouraged to handle the snakes.

Howell Masonic Lodge 175th Anniversary
The history of Masonry is replete with individuals who were the heralds of their communities. Masonry in Howell begins with one such luminary by the name of Amos Adams.
Amos Adams arrived in Howell, Michigan in 1835 and built the first home in the township on what was to become the corner of West Grand River Avenue and Walnut Street. Being among the first settlers of the new township of Howell, he was elected Justice of the Peace in April, 1836 as well as Treasurer and Surveyor of Livingston County. He opened up the Eagle Tavern and Hotel which became a central location for doing business within the village. In 1838, he built a sawmill as well located on the Shiawassee river.
Also in 1838, another brother mason, Gardner Wheeler would be the first physician to settle in the township. As the village was growing, seven brothers assembled to open a Lodge.
On November 10, 1838, a dispensation was issued to these seven brothers to open a Lodge. A charter was granted by the Grand Lodge of the State of Michigan on January 10, 1850 for Howell Lodge No. 38. This was to be the beginning of well over 175 years of Masonry in Howell.
In the decades that followed, hundreds have been members of Howell #38. The location has changed, on multiple occasions, within the city, however the vision and dedication of its members remains the same to this day.
In the 1950’s and ’60s the Lodge met on the third floor of the First National Bank building on the southwest corner of Grand River and Michigan Avenue, however the present Lodge building was purchased and dedicated for use in 1971.
There will be a formal gathering and re-dedication ceremony at 7:00 pm. The event will take place at 401 West Grand River Avenue, Howell,Michigan.

Honoring Vets: "Taking Chance" At Howell Theater
This Memorial Day we invite you to join us at Historic Howell Theater to view Taking Chance, the remarkable true story of Lt. Colonel Michael Strobl escorting the remains of Lance Corporal Chance Phelps back to his hometown in Wyoming.
Honor and mourn our fallen combat veterans, find comfort in gathering, experience the film as a community, and hear experiences and reactions to the film from a small panel of community veterans. Panelists include Ramon Baca, Veteran Services Director, and Adam Moore, who served with Chance.
No registration required. This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 3:00pm. Movie runs from 4:00pm to 5:15pm. Panel discussion from 5:15pm to 6:15pm.

40th Anniversary Salute To The Stars
On May 28th, 2025, Livingston County Catholic Charities (LCCC) will host our Salute to the Stars Celebration, where guests will enjoy a night of joyous celebration, exciting announcements, and fellowship. We will celebrate the agency's 40th Anniversary and present several Legacy Awards named after instrumental people in LCCC’s history. This year's location will be The Reserve Event Center, a beautiful new venue in Pinckney. This exciting evening will include a delicious meal, cash bar, music, silent auction, guest speaker, honoree presentations, and a live ask.
Attendees will be treated to a special speech by Pete Burak, the Vice President of Renewal Ministries, a ministry dedicated to Catholic renewal and evangelization around the world. Pete is a frequent speaker on discipleship and evangelization and the co-director of Pine Hills Boys' Camp. He is a monthly columnist for Faith Magazine and the host of two podcasts: Spirit-filled Leadership and The Hour.

Walk4Hearing breaks down barriers and empowers thousands of people with hearing loss in 21 cities across the U.S. each year. Teams of families and friends unite with local HLAA Chapters, schools, hearing health care professionals and our nonprofit and business partners to raise awareness and funds.
Participating in the Walk4Hearing supports hearing health, advocacy and education programs—and more importantly, brings hope to people of all ages and backgrounds to live confidently and thrive with hearing loss.
