These are his boys. That’s the way Brighton football coach Brian Lemons views his coaching staff.
His boys are also great at what they do. That’s why Lemons deflects praise when talking about his impending induction into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
“This is a great honor for all my guys, staff and players,’ Lemons said.
He has led Brighton to the state playoffs nine of 11 years and has a 75-38 record there. The Bulldogs are the only Livingston County team to advance to the state finals in 2019 where they dropped a 35-25 decision to Saline.
Lemons recorded a 58-19 record at Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard. Under Lemon the Irish advanced to the Division 5 state semi-finals in 2012.
“It shows the quality of people that I have been with and the great players,” Lemons said. We got something a lot of coaches want and I am grateful for it.”
Lemons is grateful that he coaches in a great community for high school football. The community provides wonderful athletes that he can work with. It is supportive and appreciative of Bulldogs football.
One more thing we should mention is that Lemons is a Hall of Fame person also.
“To be in a community that gets behind you takes care of itself,” Lemons said. “You are blessed to have those people. Everybody gets behind you and they want to see it work.”
