Pinckney and Fowlerville to renew football rivalry in 2026
December 9, 2025
One of my missions after taking this job was to watch Fowlerville and Pinckney play one another in football.
Unfortunately, a dispute a few years back ended this Livingston County rivalry and the schools refused to play one another. I began to bug Pinckney Athletic Director Matt Seidl who in turn got in contact with Fowlerville AD Jeff Finney.
I got my wish.
Pinckney and Fowlerville will play at Fowlerville in week 8 in 2026, part of a two-year agreement that should last a lifetime.
Last year Pinckney played a non-league game in week 8 against Carrolton, which is a few miles north of Saginaw. Fowlerville found a playing partner even further north in Cheboygan, a nifty 3 ½ hour drive.
Why not play someone your own size closer to home? It takes about 25 minutes to commute from Fowlerville to Pinckney.
One of the problems is the schools play in different conferences. Fowlerville is in the Capital Area Activities Conference, Red Division. And Pinckney plays in the Southeastern Conference White Division.
The schools have not played each other since 2020 when the Pinckney Pirates were accused of running up the score, 41-0.
Maybe we can call it the Foster Bowl.
