Brighton High School announced on Thursday that longtime assistant Kurt Kivisto has been hired as the Bulldogs hockey coach.

Kivisto, a former Brighton player, succeeds Paul Moggach, who retired last month. Kivisto played at Michigan State and was on the Spartans’ 2007 national championship team in his playing days.

He had been Moggach’s assistant the last 10 seasons, during which Brighton won four state titles.
