We all know the big-name players when Howell faces Brighton Friday in yet another huge rivalry game.
Howell features Bryce Kish Palmer Van Deven and Walker Weiss.
Brighton counters with Dom Nauss, Dom D’Agosta and Jayden Ciponaer.
However, Brighton coach Brian Lemons said do not be surprised if lesser names decide the outcome of Friday’s game. Maybe it is Brighton backup quarterback Sam Alamat who has not seen much playing time but prepared for his moment by attending off-season leadership camp.
Maybe it’s a guy like Howell sophomore defensive tackle Sam Brown who waits his turn but shines when he gets a chance.
“This game is going to be about the second 11 guys,” Lemons said. “We know what we are going to get from our starters.”
Brighton (4-2) could have an advantage there because injuries have forced the Bulldogs to play several sophomores and juniors. However, Howell (6-0) has been able to get a number of sophomores on the field late during blowout games.

** One back up who could step up is senior running back Korkut Arbor who will replace fellow running back Christian Farren who is out with a season-ending injury. At times Farren is every bit as good in the back field as Bryce Kish who is headed for Clemson.
Farren will be on the sidelines trying to encourage teammates and passing along any piece of advice he can.
