"Tuesday March 29th Morning" sportscast.

After lobbying for a few years to get the NFL draft in the city of the Detroit, the NFL has awarded the Lions and the city with the 2024 draft – and team president Rod Wood said he couldn’t be more thrilled to have this honor as he hopes it will lead to bigger things – like another Super Bowl inside Ford Field…

“It’s unlikely and will never say never that will have another chance for a Super Bowl. But the draft has become the next biggest event that the league puts on. And once the draft started to move around and be successful in other markets, it became something we really began to focus on. And we’re so happy that it finally happened, and we hope to put on a good enough show to be considered for a Super Bowl again”.

The area around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza will serve as the site of the draft, and will come on the heels of this year’s draft being held in Vegas, and next years in Kansas City – and team owner Sheila Hamp promises to put on a great show for the league, and the fans…

“This is a great day for us. It represents a lot of hard work on part of the Lions, the Detroit Sports Commission and the Mayor. I think it will be huge for our wonderful city to showcase itself and our fans – and we’re really, really proud. I promise we will put on a wonderful show. 2024 will be a great draft!”

The team has also been picked to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” with the five-episode season debuting on Tuesday August 9th, with new shows being released each week until the season finale on September 6th.

The Lions now mark the 17th edition of the 18-time Sports Emmy winning series, and that could be good news for the team as 11 of the last 13 teams featured have equaled or improved their win-loss record in the regular season, with the Lions looking to build upon a 3-13-1 finish last year.

And the Tigers fell to 4-5 in Grapefruit league play yesterday after falling to the Yankees 11-7 down in Lakeland.

Before the game however, the team made a few roster moves as they optioned pitcher Bryan Garcia and outfielder Daz Cameron to Triple A Toledo, while also reassigning both pitchers Miguel Diaz and Ricardo Pinto to Minor League Camp to leave them 42 players left in Major League Camp.
