The matchups for the KLAA baseball and softball championships were set on Tuesday, and one of the has a pair of local teams battling for the title. That will come in softball, where both Hartland and Howell won by blowing out their opponents. For Hartland, it was a 10-0 win over Livonia Churchill, sparked by the pitching of Rachel Everett, who faced the minimum 15 batters, striking out 12.

Churchill got its only hit in the fourth, only to see the runner picked off at first on a strong throw by catcher Hunter Lopez to end the inning. The Eagles will face Howell in Thursday’s championship game at Novi. The Highlanders rolled past KLAA East champion Livonia Stevenson 13-1. Maddie Springer was 4-for-5 and Meghan Farren had three hits and drove in three runs for the Highlanders. Jane Anderson got the win for the Highlanders.

In baseball, Hartland held off Livonia Franklin to win 6-4 despite giving up three runs in the seventh. The Eagles put the game out of reach with four runs in the fourth. Ian Schuster got the win for Hartland. Bruce Jellison led the Eagles with two hits. They will face Livonia Stevenson in Thursday’s championship game. Stevenson beat Howell 4-1 thanks to a three-run sixth. Adam Mrakitsch had a pair of singles for Howell, which will take on Franklin in Thursday's consolation game, both at Novi.

In other games Tuesday, Brighton won its baseball crossover with Livonia Churchill, taking the first game of a scheduled doubleheader 10-4. Ben Horaney and Nick Baker both homered while going 3-for-4, and each had four RBIs. The second game was called by darkness after three innings. Fowlerville swept Lansing Eastern 19-1 and 12-1. James Anderson hit a grand slam and Brendan Young drove in four funs for the Gladiators in the opener. In the second game, Logan Koven had a pair of doubles and Isaac Way was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Cheryl Stockwell beat Allen Park Inter-City Baptist 7-1. Caleb Moore allowed only five hits and struck out 12 for the Sentinels.

In softball, Brighton won its first KLAA crossover game with Westland John Glenn 6-1 after putting it out of reach with four runs in the sixth. In the nightcap. Izzy Hoadley pitched a perfect game in a 10-0 win. striking out eight in five innings. Fowlerville had a pair of lopsided wins over Lansing Eastern. The Glads got a three- inning perfect game from Carlie Anderson in a 17-0 rout. Tori Briggs was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. In the nightcap, Fowlerville scored 14 runs in the first en route to a 23-0 shutout. Briggs, who was the winning pitcher, and Raelynn Haan each drove in three runs.

In soccer, Hartland beat Brighton 2-1 when a clearing pass hit a Brighton player and went into the goal with 11 seconds left. The loss ended Brighton’s hopes of winning the KLAA West title. Pinckney clinched at least a tie for the SEC White Divison title by beating Jackson 5-0. They can clinch with a win against second place Chelsea on Thursday night. Chary Stockwell downed Durand 5-0. Cassie Hall scored twice for the Sentinels.
