After a season of uncertainty the 2020 high school football season begins tonight throughout the state of Michigan. A six-game regular season will be followed by a playoff spot for every team this season.

Fans will be limited to two per number of participants, including players, coaches, and cheerleaders for both teams. At Howell, fans will not be allowed on the hill opposite the home stands and attendance will be similarly curtailed around the state.
The game will be telecast on the National Federation of High Schools website at nfhsnetwork.com. A subscription is required.

One team that won’t be playing tonight is Brighton. The Bulldogs opener at home with Novi was cancelled after Oakland County health department officials found five students at Novi High School had been infected with the coronavirus.

Classes at Novi High School were held online today and Friday, and all games and practices involving Novi High School were suspended until Monday. The resulting Novi forfeit gives Brighton a 2-0 victory and playoff points that could be crucial later in the season.
