Hartland and Brighton both moved up in this week’s Division 1 high school girls basketball poll. The Eagles jumped from a tie for fourth into the No. 2 spot, while the Bulldogs rose from No. 6 to No. 3 in the rankings, with both teams trailing top ranked East Lansing. They meet tonight at Hartland High School, with the KLAA West Division title on the line. Both teams are 15-1 overall, 11-1 in the KLAA West.

Hartland lost to the Bulldogs in the first meeting of the season at Brighton, 40-33. The winner is assured a berth in the KLAA tournament, which begins next week.

The boys teams are at Brighton this evening. Howell’s boys are home against Canton in a game that can clinch the Highlanders at least a tie for the title with a win tonight.

A win tonight means Howell can clinch the division title outright with a home win against Northville on Friday. Elsewhere tonight, Fowlerville is playing a doubleheader at Corunna while Pinckney plays host to Tecumseh in a twin bill.

Speaking of polls, Williamston is ranked third in this week’s Division 2 boys poll, while the Williamston girls are No. 9 in Division 2. Byron, which suffered its first loss of the season last week, fell to No. 9 in Division 3.
