Pinckney’s Zach Sieler achieved a rare distinction on Saturday. Seiler became the first player from Pinckney and from Ferris State to be drafted by an NFL team.

The Baltimore Ravens took Sieler in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. He’s the fourth player from Livingston County to be drafted by a team, a list that includes Mark Messner of Hartland as well as Drew Henson and Morgan Trent, who played at Brighton. It’s been a rapid ascent for Sieler, who wasn’t recruited at any level after high school and who was undersized at 220 pounds. He’s now listed at 6-feet-6 inches and 290 pounds. Pinckney coach Rod Beaton says Sieler’s story is one of both talent and determination.

Seiler celebrated with family and friends at a draft party at the Zukey Lake Tavern on Saturday, when his name was announced. He’ll participate in a Ravens rookie camp this weekend. He graduated from Ferris State last December.
