Matthew Hutchison is a veteran journalist, communications executive and public affairs host who joins WHMI as a part-time news reporter and anchor.He is also the host of WHMI’s “Meet the People,” a long-form public affairs program focused on serious, substantive conversations with candidates, elected officials, community leaders and newsmakers across Livingston County, mid-Michigan and beyond.
Matt began his media career with the legendary WHYT in Detroit and later worked with MTV/CBS, Forbes, Tribune Co. and Dow Jones. His work has spanned radio, television, digital media, public affairs and executive communications.
A Brighton native and Michigan State grad who recently returned to Michigan, Matt grew up listening to WHMI, especially on winter mornings waiting to hear whether school would be canceled. He appreciates the station’s unique role as Livingston County’s dominant source for local news on-air and online.
