Sheriff: Plane may have struck antenna tower before crash
May 20, 2021
Jasper Township, MI — A sheriff says a single-engine plane that crashed and caught fire in a mid-Michigan field may have struck a radio antenna tower or the guy wires supporting it. Midland County Sheriff Myron Greene said Thursday that two debris fields from the crash included one near the tower. He says the other was in a Jasper County field a short distance away where the fuselage came to rest. The Monday crash killed 23-year-old Slade David Martin of Gratiot County. Greene says he was the plane’s sole occupant. He says the investigation has been turned over to federal authorities.
