After more than 50 years, hospital ends home-delivered meals

Owosso, MI — After more than 50 years, a hospital has stopped delivering meals to homes in Shiawassee County. The Argus-Press newspaper in Owosso reports that Memorial Healthcare told people to contact the Shiawassee Council on Aging for meals. The council’s executive director, Cynthia Mayhew, says she has no information on the change. Kevin Davis, an executive at Memorial Healthcare, says the hospital was providing one meal per day to about 20 people. Most people in the program had been patients at the Owosso hospital. Memorial says the change will allow it to focus on health care needs in the community.
