The the encounter turned violent, prosecutors said.

Following the stabbing, Day allegedly called 911 and claimed sustaining an injury while acting in self-defense, but left the area before officers arrived.

Prosecutors said Day discarded the knife, which was later recovered with a portion of its blade missing.
