Allegations of a drained 401(k) account and kitchen knives brought from home point to a possible preplanned plot in the stabbing deaths of a Pennsylvania man and his 3-year-old son.
Metallica Harrison, 27, is facing charges in the murders of her husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, and their young child inside a hotel room at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos.
April Thetga, the accused murderer's stepmother, told Fox News Digital she is in disbelief and that the tragedy appears to have been deliberately orchestrated in advance.
Thetga said Metallica Harrison possibly drained her 401(k) account ahead of the family's three-week stay at the resort. It was not immediately clear if Chaz knew the account was possibly drained.
According to Thetga, the kitchen knives found at the crime scene were brought from the family's modest home in Towanda.
"This was definitely preplanned, which is horrifying," Thetga said.
A probable cause affidavit states officers discovered those knives, along with blood and medications, inside the Harrisons' hotel room.
Police initially responded to a 911 call made by the suspect, who was "suicidal."
The horrific scene marked the end of the family's three-week stay at the popular resort, where room bookings can range from hundreds of dollars to up to $2,000.
The extended vacation raised questions about how the working-class couple could afford to foot the bill, as Chaz worked for a cabinetry company in Sayre and Metallica worked in an undisclosed healthcare position, Thetga said.
