Three people have been killed and at least one person was hospitalized in what was first described as a "mass shooting" in Prospect Hill, North Carolina.
The Caswell County Sheriff's Office told Fox News Digital that four people were shot, three of whom were killed.
The sheriff also described the shooting as a "domestic family event."
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation first said the Caswell County Sheriff's Office requested assistance "regarding an early morning mass shooting on Brooks Road in Prospect Hill, North Carolina."
A Caswell County official later Caswell County Sheriff's Office is the lead agency on this case. They are assisted by the SBI, the NC State Highway Patrol, the Prospect Hill Fire Department, Caswell County EMS, Caswell County Emergency Management, Caswell County 911, and the Person County Sheriff's Office," the statement also said.
