A seasonal favorite is back.

The Howell Rotary Club announced the presale for Howell Melon ice cream opened on Monday. Officials said the popular flavor sells out each year, so if you want it, order early.

Individual servings of the ice cream will be available during the Howell Melon Festival on the lawn of the Livingston County Courthouse, being held Aug. 14 until 16 this year.

48 oz cartons are $23. Proceeds from the sale support a number of local youth and community programs, including the Howell High School Interact Club, Boy Scout Troop 362 and Cub Scout Pack 365 and Literacy initiatives.

Orders will be available for pick up in the bus parking lot between 411 N. Highlander Way, the freshman campus and Administration building, and 511 N. Highlander Way, the Highlander Way Middle School. There will be signs posted. Pick up will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and Monday, Aug. 11 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Preorder is available until Aug. 8.

The ice cream is sold exclusively by the Rotary Club once a year, and is produced by Guernsey Farms Dairy of Northville. Frank Spagnuolo created the recipe, and the organization said they are “proud to keep his legacy alive.”

Officials said the ice cream will also be available at certain local stores closer to the Howell Melon Festival, but the dates and locations will be released at a later date. The price for the store sales will be $25.
