The Salvation Army of Livingston County is looking for volunteers ahead of the Summer Lunch Bunch launch.
The program, which begins on Wednesday, ensures children, families and seniors have access to healthy food during the summer break. Experts said for some families, it can be difficult to make sure kids are getting enough to eat, and without free lunches through school, it can become nearly impossible.
There will be meals distributed throughout the County, making sure everyone who needs the meals is able to get them.
Along with meals and fresh produce, there will be crafts available as well.
There is no registration needed to receive meals. Brighton Village Mobile Home Park, Howell Carnegie Library, Fowlerville Library, Howell Estates Mobile Home Park and Hartland Meadows Mobile Home Park will each have meal distribution regularly.
Activities available through the Salvation Army of Livingston County on June 14 at Fowlerville’s Fun in the Ville and on June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15 at Pinckney’s Food Truck Fridays. No meals will be available at those events.
Anyone interested in helping with the program can sign up through the Signup Genius link below. Volunteer slots typically run from mid-morning to early afternoon or mid-afternoon into the evening. The last day for food distribution is Aug. 7.
