A lengthy bridge replacement project is starting up today in Green Oak Township.

Rickett Road is closed over the Huron River between Hammel and Winans Lake Roads, through roughly November.

The Livingston County Road Commission advises that while Rickett Road will be closed at the Huron River, local access will be maintained.

There will also be temporary closures of the Huron River during the project.

The river will be temporarily closed to paddlers, also starting today. That’s expected to last up to 120 days. Paddlers are encouraged to access the river upstream at Island Lake Recreation Area or downstream at Huron Meadows Metropark.

Island Lake Rec Area advises that the project is approximately 4.75 miles downstream from the last access site within the park and does not impact paddlers staying within the park.
