“Let’s bring the temperature down to a reasonable level”.

That was the message from the Pinckney Police Department on social media last night, following apparent threats being made online.

The talk of the town as of late has been the possibility of the Village eliminating the police department and contracting coverage out due to budget constraints. Nothing has been decided and conversations are continuing, but residents and others have been very vocal on social media.

The Department posted the following Tuesday:

“OK folks, we have broached a serious line here. I may disagree with the president on funding issues but he is still a human being and a child of God. The residents have spoken quite clearly that they wish the Pinckney Police and the Chief of Police to remain. We cannot degenerate to making veiled threats of "hunting accidents." That is dangerously close to criminal activity. The police department will work to protect everyone, even those who we disagree with. There will be no more of this type of talk. I appreciate that the post was taken down quickly but a number of people have seen it and are quite disturbed. This is how the computer gets people in trouble. If there is criminal activity by anyone, we or the Michigan State Police will investigate fully. Let’s bring the temperature down to a reasonable level”.
