Both Eastbound and Westbound I-96 are back open following a roughly 90-minute closure due to multiple accidents Wednesday morning.

Michigan State Police Lt. Rene Gonzalez tells WHMI News preliminary information is that a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-96 had either pushed or struck a semi-truck to go into the concrete barrier. That impact pushed the barrier into westbound traffic, which is what prompted the closure on both sides of the freeway.

Gonzalez said MDOT was pretty close by and responded quickly on scene; and was able to put everything back into place.

No injuries were reported.

The all-clear was given around noon.
