The local non-profit Mitchell’s Hope will host its 12th Annual Drug Epidemic Memorial and Overdose Awareness Day event this weekend.

It’s on Saturday at the Livingston Conservation District Nature Preserve in Gregory from noon to 2pm.

This is the fourth event held at the Michigan Drug Epidemic Memorial and the 12th event held by Mitchell's Hope.

The event covers International Overdose Awareness Day and the Drug Epidemic Memorial honoring lives lost to the nation's drug epidemic.

The Nature Preserve is located at 9585 Roberts Road.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picture of their loved one and share stories.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office is expected to discuss drug trends in the area.

Pizza will be available along with water, and donations are appreciated.

The Big Red Barrel will also be on site to take back unused or unneeded medications and sharps. Anyone looking to dispose of sharps should put them in a laundry detergent bottle or another plastic container... screw on the lid and tape it shut. Medications should be in a Ziploc baggie.

An event flyer is attached.
