LACASA Center on Monday announced a $50,000 matching gift from local business owners Judy and Bert Herzog, aimed at boosting the organization's "Home for Good" Capital Campaign.
According to a release, the Herzogs, long-time supporters of LACASA's vital mission, have pledged to match every new donation dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $50,000.
It means every gift, no matter the size, will effectively be doubled, maximizing its power to help LACASA achieve a mortgage-free future for its facility and ensure continued, uninterrupted services for survivors of abuse.
"We are incredibly grateful to Judy and Bert Herzog for their extraordinary generosity and their unwavering commitment to our mission," said LACASA President & CEO Bobette Schrandt.
"Their matching gift is a challenge to our entire community to invest in a future where LACASA can focus all resources on healing and prevention."
LACASA moved all operations to its newly constructed “Home for Good” on Tooley Road in Howell in January 2024, a state-of-the-art building which includes an expanded Crisis Shelter that has been full every day since.
Thanks to the generous support of the community, the building is more than 85% paid off, with roughly $2 million remaining. A mortgage-free facility means all resources can be directed towards client services and outreach, strengthening vital programs that serve survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual violence in Livingston County.
"Supporting LACASA is an investment in the safety and well-being of our entire community," said Judy Herzog, a longtime LACASA board member. "We hope our matching gift encourages others to join us in securing LACASA's forever home, ensuring they can continue their vital work for generations to come."
Community members are encouraged to make a gift to LACASA's "Home for Good" Capital Campaign now to take advantage of this limited-time matching opportunity. Donations can be made online by clicking the link below.
