The Livingston Sunrise Rotary on Monday announced Mark and Barb Binkley, owners of Cooper & Binkley Jewelers, will serve as Grand Marshals for Brighton's annual Independence Day parade.
According to a release, the Rotary describes the Binkleys as "true fixtures in our community, the Binkley have dedicated themselves to selfless civil service for decades," and built their business into a cornerstone of Livingston County, "earning the trust and admiration of both their customers and peers."
The Rotary also reminds the community there are plenty of things to do before the Fourth of July parade, such as the annual Hungry Duck Run -- a 5k Run & Walk, and Half Marathon at 6:30 am and 6:45 am, which starts at East St. Paul Street east of Grand River, proceeds down Flint Road, into Brighton Township and returns to the start line.

Games and fun for the family kick off at 8:30 am on Main Street in front of the Mill Pond. There will be a “Duckling Dash” at 9:30 am on Main Street.
After the parade, BAFA Ladder 31 will be set up on N. West Street and Main to spray the crowd with water, for a" larger-than-life sprinkler."
