The Main Street bridge replacement project in the Northfield Township/Whitmore Lake area is progressing.

The contractor working on behalf of the Washtenaw County Road Commission has completed the installation of cofferdam in preparation for new bridge foundations at the Main Street Bridge. It’s located between Jennings Road and Tillman Court.

Excavation and dewatering efforts are underway to allow building the foundations to support the bridge construction.

Moving ahead, crews will install cofferdam on south side of bridge approach. They’ll also prepare foundation forms and pour concrete for the northern abutment foundations

Main Street remains completely closed to all traffic, with a detour in effect.
