A big roundabout project in the Dexter area is on track to be completed before the busy Labor Day holiday weekend.

Island Lake Road and Dexter Main Street corridor improvements are continuing in Webster and Scio Townships.

The contractor working on behalf of the Washtenaw County Road Commission has constructed concrete pavement through the viaduct and completed asphalt paving through the remaining portion of Island Lake Road between Dexter-Chelsea Road and Dexter-Pinckney Road.

New concrete curb, sidewalk ramps, and traffic signal work continue in the City of Dexter.
This week involved sign installation and pavement markings.

Next week will be sidewalk ramps, traffic signals, pedestrian signals, and restoration.

The Road Commission says it’s anticipated the intersections will open to traffic by August 28th.

The intersection of Island Lake Road and Dexter-Chelsea Road remains closed, with detours posted.
