As expected, the Howell Township Board Monday night formally reprimanded Trustee Bob Wilson with a censure, outlining ten specific allegations against him, such as filing complaints against neighbors.

Trustee Wilson addressed the allegations head on.

"Absolutely. It was a test of how our township handles our 14th Amendment in regard to how they treat people that deal with the township," he said.

"There is no consitency. It appears they treat people differently based on whether or not the 'Good 'Ole Boy Club' likes you or not. The status of wealth, attitude, position in the community, etc."

Trustee Wilson has argued for years that only a handful of officials are running Howell Township, giving favors to some, while targeting others.

"Despite being at a point the Township has over $4 million in the bank, you've got to spend what you've got to prove you need it. With nothing going to the taxpayers' benefit, just the people that work at the township hall," Wilson said.

The resolution to censure also outlined various incidents where other trustees believed Wilson "slandered Planning Commissioners" and other trustees, "released information he was not lawfully authorized to disclose," attended meetings "with the the smell of marijuana on or about his person," and even "death threats" against fellow trustees and township staff.

The Board ultimately voted 5-2 to censure Trustee Wilson.

When contacted for comment, Supervisor Mike Coddington referred only to the resolution.

Trustee Wilson told WHMI News he won't be deterred by the formal censure.
