Genoa Twp Approves Slightly Lower Millage Rate

Genoa Township homeowners will see a slight decrease in their winter tax bills. Trustees on Monday approved a new millage rate of .7752 for the next fiscal year.
"Last year, the 2024 winter tax bill was .7773, so for a $300,000 home, it will go down 35 cents," said Treasurer Robin Hunt.
She insists Genoa still boasts one of the lowest tax rates across all Livingston County, compared to the townships of Brighton, Green Oak, Hamburg and Oceola.
"As of right now, we don't have to do a road millage," said Supervisor Kevin Spicher. "We've been able to save and fund road improvements with our general fund contributions."
"We believe we're providing residents with the services they want and expect out of a township. Township residents expect a good bit less than city residents, and hence, they pay lower taxes."
