Community members are encouraged to celebrate 517 Day this Saturday throughout downtown Howell along with a big food truck rally.

It’s a day of local eats, unique shopping, and family-friendly entertainment.

Lexie Wilcox is the current Interim Howell Main Street Inc. Chief Operating Officer and Interim Downtown Development Authority Director. Former longtime Director Kate Litwin moved on to a new opportunity.

Wilcox told WHMI they’ll be celebrating the 517-area code and everything the downtown and small businesses have to offer – offering some fun to get the community together. She noted the event is all merchant-led and was started last year, so hopefully it will be a fun block party for years to come.

Also on tap Saturday is the Food Truck Rally behind Cleary’s Pub in Parking Lot #1 from 11am to 4pm. It will feature 17 food trucks, beverages, and a DJ.

Wilcox noted the Howell Police Department is also doing a Dunk Tank Fundraiser with Chief Dunn from 11am to 1pm.
