The Brighton Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame is adding two names this fall.
1965 BHS graduate Dennis Bowdoin started both Movieland Video, which grew from one to 360 stores, and Helicopter Air Specialty Service. His dedication to aviation grew as he built the Maple Grove Heliport, managed the Maple Grove and Romeo State Airports, became an FAA Safety Counselor, Michigan Aeronautics consultant for helicopters and heliports and wrote and ran Western Michigan University’s helicopter program. He was a 2024 inductee into the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame. Bowdoin has also served as Conway Township Planning Commissioner Chair and Township Constable, along with being a member of the Livingston County Planning Commission for 22 years.
Dr. Arthur Pancioli, a 1982 BHS graduate and 1991 University of Michigan Medical School graduate, is the Chief Clinical Officer and Senior Vice President for the University of Cincinnati Health System. An emergency medicine and neurovascular emergency specialist, he is also a professor of emergency medicine for the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Pancioli also served as a flight surgeon with the Michigan Air National Guard from 1989 to 1993, where he rose to the rank of captain. He has also published several peer-reviewed publications.
“We continue to be amazed as we learn of the incredible stories of Brighton alumni,” BAS Superintendent Dr. Matthew Outlaw said. “Their success is obvious, but the impact that they are making on others and the world around them is even more impressive. It is such a pleasure to tell the stories of these outstanding alumni every year. Each story offers us a chance to celebrate as a community but also provides wonderful examples for our students of what is possible with hard work and dedication.”
The Brighton Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame began four years ago. 1998 graduate Drew Henson, 1975 graduate Dave LewAllen, 1976 graduate Kate Lawrence, 1988 graduate Colonel Karin Flood, M.D., 1971 Bruce Ritter, 1988 graduate Kari Seitz and 1941 graduate Charles Brade have all been honored in previous years.
The induction ceremony for Pancioli and Bowdoin is scheduled for Oct. 16 at Brighton High School. Both will be part of the homecoming parade, as well as honored during halftime of the homecoming football game, on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
