Authorities are on the scene of a crash in the westbound lanes of I-96.

The Sheriff's Office told WHMI two semi-trucks and five cars were involved in the crash.

One person was air lifted in critical condition and another person in critical condition was transported by ambulance. Other people who were injured sought treatment separately.

96 is expected to reopen between 5:30 and 6 p.m. at the time of publishing.

Drivers are urged to take an alternate route at this time.

According to the Michigan State Police First District's X account, troopers from the Brighton Post are assisting the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
