The longtime president of the Pinckney Community Schools Board of Education is stepping down after nearly two decades of service.

During this past Monday’s Board of Education meeting, President Michelle Crampo officially announced her resignation - effective Friday, July 18th.

Crampo stated “Serving on this board has been one of the most meaningful and fulfilling experiences of my life. I am proud to have been part of a team so deeply committed to the well-being and education of our students, the support of our educators, and the strength of our community. This decision did not come easily. While I may be stepping away from an official role, my support and belief in our mission remain as strong as ever. I have full faith that this Board of Education will carry on with our mission of serving all kids”.

The process to appoint a new board member will begin immediately. Community members who are interested in being considered should contact Superintendent Rick Todd directly at rtodd@pinckneypirates.org.

Once an application is submitted and reviewed, selected candidates will be invited to participate in a public interview at the next board meeting, scheduled for Monday, July 21st at 5:30pm.

The new board member will serve as a Trustee until November 2026, in which they will then have to run in the general election for the remaining two years of Michelle's term, which expires in 2028.

Superintendent Todd wished Crampo all the best in her next chapter, saying “On behalf of the entire district and community, I want to thank Michelle for her 18½ years of dedicated service and steadfast leadership. She has guided Pinckney Community Schools through numerous challenges, including a decade of financial hardship and the unprecedented demands of the pandemic. Through it all, her leadership remained a constant, helping us navigate difficult times with resilience, innovation, and a shared commitment to keeping students learning safely in person during the 2020-21 school year. Strong leadership is the backbone of any successful organization, and Michelle has embodied that throughout her tenure. We are deeply grateful for her service and incredibly proud of all she has accomplished on behalf of our students, staff, and families”.
