Get ready for “chrome, horsepower, and heart” in South Lyon this Saturday.
Kiwanis of South Lyon, in partnership with Modded Detroit, is hosting “The South Lyon Kar Show” - an all-day celebration of classic rides, custom builds, and community connection.
Modded Detroit, the team behind some of Southeast Michigan’s most electrifying car shows, is bringing its signature style and passion to South Lyon for a day that promises “unforgettable sights, sounds, and smiles”. Around 300 custom vehicles are expected to be on site.
The show will take place South Lyon High School at 1000 N. Lafayette Street from 10am to 6pm.
A food truck and ice cream truck will be on site; along with a live magician roving the grounds, photo opportunities, family-friendly fun, and a 50/50 raffle.
A release states “Whether you're a gearhead or just along for the ride, The South Lyon Kar Show is your summer destination for high-octane fun and heartfelt giving. Come for the chrome, stay for the cause!”
All proceeds will benefit Kiwanis of South Lyon and its ongoing mission to support youth programs, local initiatives, scholarships, and other charity work.
Event Coordinator Richard Miller told WHMI they are an all-volunteer group and everything raised goes right back into the community because “that’s what it’s all about”.
Miller added Modded Detroit is “one of the hottest groups around and is run by 20-something-year-olds”. His son is in the group and he said they all keep up their cars and just enjoy showing them off - doing shows all over Metro Detroit. Miller noted the group also works to get more high school students involved, since so many no longer offer auto shop classes.
Miller said also just recently, they added Devon Built to the line-up – a modified car and truck company in Milford that will showcase a Jeep on tracks.
General admission is free and all are welcome.
The entry fee for show cars is $10, which should arrive around 9am.
