The pedestrian victim who died after being struck by a semi on the freeway has been identified.

Last Sunday shortly after 11:30am, Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputies and NIESA Fire/Rescue responded to I-96 westbound at the M-52 overpass for a report of a semi-truck versus pedestrian crash.

Responders arrived to find a male subject deceased on the freeway. He has since been identified as 58-year-old Timothy Meagher from the Webberville area. The Sheriff’s Office said “Our thoughts go out to the community, his family, and friends”.

The semi-truck driver was not injured and no other drivers are believed to be involved.

Deputies said it was learned that Meagher had walked into a lane where the semi was traveling westbound.

The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team and the Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting with the investigation and identification.

The investigation is ongoing.
