Brighton-based Veterans Connected is putting out a call to the public to help a homeless Gulf War vet introduced to the group about three weeks ago.

“We got him health care. We got a dentist. We put him up in a hotel. We got him employment,” says founder Bryan Bradford. “Now, the next phase is actually getting him to sustainability on his own. So, we acquired a camper trailer, because he’d love to be outdoors, as temporary housing. But right now, he doesn’t have anything.”

That means the unidentified vet needs everything from linens, towels, pots, pans, silverware, even toiletries and propane for cooking. Monetary donations also are need for offsetting any ongoing expenses.

Veterans connected also is working with Congressman Tom Barrett’s office to expedite any VA benefits he’s eligible for.

“He got a less-than-honorable (discharge). The circumstances we’ve investigated. The VA has already authorized the upgrade. We’re waiting for the Army’s response to actually get the upgrade in order to get him his proper benefits.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Veterans Connected office on W. Main in downtown Brighton or make online monetary donations at the link below.
