Heads up for motorists in the Brighton area – more travel woes and expected delays.

Eastbound I-96 will have a double lane closure this Thursday between 9am and 3pm at Grand River.

The ramp from westbound Grand River to Eastbound I-96 will also require a short-term closure.

It’s part of the ongoing construction project at I-96 and Grand River. MDOT is reconstructing the interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange to enhance traffic flow and safety.

The next significant stage for the project is poised to begin next week.

A reminder that the two-month closure of Grand River at I-96 is scheduled to go into effect Wednesday, June 25th, with traffic detoured.
