The ongoing construction project at I-96 and Grand River in the Brighton area will be entering a new phase in a couple of weeks – bringing a new lengthy road closure.

MDOT is reconstructing the I-96/Grand River interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange to enhance traffic flow and safety.

In approximately 2 weeks, crews will begin the next significant stage for the project - which requires the full closure of Grand River between Nemco Way and Hilton Road.

During the full closure, the eastbound I-96 on and off ramps to Grand River will remain open and the westbound I-96 off ramp will remain open to eastbound Grand River traffic only.

All Grand River traffic will be directed along eastbound I-96, Spencer Road, Old US-23 and Hilton Road as indicated in the detail below. The full closure is expected to be in place for approximately 2 months.

Officials advise that more information will be forthcoming in the near future.
