Michigan State Police is advising of a new scam making the rounds.

As of early afternoon today, the MSP Jackson Post said it had received around ten calls from citizens regarding a text message scam from someone claiming to be from the State of Michigan “DMV”.

The message threatens legal action against the citizen and driver’s license suspension for failure to pay, with an associated link to pay the fees.

State Police say the text messages are scams. It advises that the Secretary of State will not ask for fees to be paid via text message.

Police stress people should not click on the link or provide any additional information – just delete the text.
