The Livingston County Early College program proudly celebrated the graduation of its sixth cohort recently.
This year, 28 students from across the county earned a combined total of 1,518 college credits, saving families an estimated $776,615 in cost of tuition and books.
The dedicated students representing Brighton, Fowlerville, Hartland, Howell, and Pinckney High Schools graduated with associate degrees, industry-recognized certificates, college credits, and/or the MEMCA (Michigan Early Middle College Association) certification — all at no cost to the students or their families.
Program expenses are fully covered by each student’s home district, making it a no-cost, high-impact opportunity for students across Livingston County.
The ceremony was filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt celebration as family, faculty, and community members gathered to honor the graduates’ achievements. The sun was said to have peeked through the clouds at just the right moment - matching the warmth and enthusiasm felt throughout the evening.
Inspiring speeches from students, faculty, and the early college coordinator highlighted the passion behind the program and the transformative experiences of the students.
Rebecca Holman, Early College Coordinator at Livingston ESA, commented “This is one of my favorite nights of the year. As the coordinator, I have the privilege of watching these students grow from start to finish. Their resilience, strength, and personal growth truly fill my heart with joy. It almost feels like they’re my own kids. I get to connect with them in such a meaningful way, and when they finally reach this milestone, I couldn’t be more proud.”
By participating in the Early College program, students gain not only academic credits but also clarity about their future goals. Graduates leave the program with confidence, having saved both time and money on their postsecondary paths.
Livingston County Early College continues to grow as an accessible and empowering opportunity for students across all five local high schools.
