Two people were hospitalized following an industrial accident this afternoon in Genoa Township.

At around 12:30pm, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office along with Brighton Area Fire personnel were dispatched to a commercial construction site on Latson Road, south of Grand River, on the report of an industrial accident. A car wash is being built.

The Office said preliminary investigation reveals employees on site were pouring concrete when the boom spreader from the concrete truck came into contact with a primary power line causing it to break and fall. Two employees on the ground were struck by the falling powerline which resulted in them being electrocuted. They were both transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in critical condition by Livingston County EMS.

Deputies were assisted on scene by DTE and the incident was turned over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration or MIOSHA.

The Sheriff's Office said no additional information regarding victims or the company will be released at this time. Any additional information will come from MIOSHA, as this was a work site accident.
