Livingston County is giving the community a chance to get rid of unwanted latex paint.
The Livingston County Solid Waste Program is hosting a recycling event for latex paint on June 25 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
One quart cans are free, each one gallon can is $2 and each five gallon can is $5. Fees can only be paid by cash or check. Checks should be made out to LCDC or Livingston County Drain Commissioner’s Office.
No oil-based, flammable or combustible products will be accepted. Nothing can be dropped off before or after the event.
Cans of paint should not be combined because the paint is being collected for recycling. Latex primers can also be donated during the event.
Reservations are required and can be made through the link below. The location of the event will be given in the confirmation email.
Two household hazardous waste events are also coming up. Registration opens four weeks in advance. Registration opens at 7 a.m. on June 9 for the July 19 event and a second event is scheduled for Sept. 13. The link below will also allow for registration for that event.
The public can also register for the electronics recycling event on Aug. 16. Computers and computer accessories, televisions and related technology, cell phones and microwaves are some of the things being recycled. A full list can be found online. Hard drives can be wiped or erased before being recycled and a hole can be drilled through it. Items containing freon, such as dehumidifiers and refrigerators and large appliances like stoves and washers will not be accepted.
Recycle Livingston and Habitat for Humanity ReStore also accept latex paint to be recycled.
