The summer festival season is kicking into high gear across the WHMI listening area. This weekend is the Village of Pinckney's 33rd annual Art in the Park.
Rick Beaudin, chairman of the Pinckney Putnam Hamburg Hell Chamber of Commerce, was on WHMI's Morning Drive with Chuck and Madison.
"There's outdoor art that some people make, some flower art, some things for lawn decorations and things like that. Painters. There's photography. There is ceramics. Wood carvings and things that people make. And lots of jewelry," he said.
The annual festival is what's called a juried art show.
"We have a jury that actually sits, and you have to give us information and show us your products and what you make, and prove that you're not just buying something from some overseas company and just piecing it together yourself," Beaudin explained.
The Village recently unveiled a new gazebo, playground and accessible walkways through Town Square Park.
But the family friendly event is not just about art.
"We do have some music and entertainment going on during the weekend. Also, we do have a couple food trucks. It's not as big as our food truck events, but we do have some food trucks. We have some great restaurants there too," said Beaudin.
Beaudin also gave a special shout out to mastpiece sponsor B.J.'s Heating & Cooling, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary by giving away a free home AC unit.
A reminder M-36 will close for Art in the Park, both Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm.
