It was Senior Survivor Week all last week at 2,000-student Brighton High School, with special activities held each day.
The annual event featured 10 teams, consisting of two senior leaders each. All are members of the National Honor Society. The leadership team members are required to be in the NHS and are also recommended by their teachers.
Although each day of the week didn’t have a "theme" as such, there were nonetheless events on different days of the week, such as Lip Synch and Baking Challenge.
Senior Survivor Week student committee chairperson Sydney Rauh tells WHMI that the week was an unqualified success. Row said, in her words, "All the teams put in a lot of hard work and were able to raise a lot of money for three different charities."
The proceeds will go to three non-profit organizations: LACASA, which is planning a teenage hangout space at its headquarters, the Carl Nagy Foundation, and "We Walk the Line".
The latter two charities were established after Brighton graduate Connor Shea and Brighton High School student Carl Nagy took their own lives.
The total proceeds from Senior Survivor Week have not yet been tallied, but are said to be in excess of $80,000.
