Hartland Township trustees voted Tuesday to leverage a half million dollars from Livingston County Road Commission to rehab another portion of Old U.S. 23.
"This one has kind of been on the radar for a few years. The area we're talking about is Old 23 from M-59 north to Crouse," said Public Works Director Scott Hable.
"I know last year we did the south end in cooperation with them (LCRC). This one was identified as a 2 out of 10 on the Pavement Surface Evaluation Rating scale. I'm sure you've all driven it and realize it needs some work."
That portion of Old U.S. 23 runs past both Hartland's Kroger store and Waldenwoods Resort & Conference Center.
According to the resolution, the Livingston County Road Commission is recommending the section to be rehabilitated using 4.0 mill and or crush/shape, while also preparing and paving 3’ HMA shoulders and various base repair as necessary.
"They'll be picking up 50 percent of the total, which is $1,050,000. So, our responsibility will only be $525,000 for this entire project," Hable added.
Hable said there's no timeline yet, but it will be sometime during the summer construction season, possibly into the fall.
