Do you want to work with firefighters to cut the door off a car?

Hartland Deerfield Fire Authority is hosting their Community Health and Safety Education Event, also known as CHASE, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Station 61 at 3205 Hartland Road.

Families can check out the bounce house, face painting, games and fire engines. Among the giveaways taking place, an adult can enter to help firefighters cut the door off a car during the extrication demonstration.

Local partners, including LACASA and the Red Cross, will have booths set up to help educate attendees about what the organizations do and offer health and safety information.

The Survival flight helicopter will make an appearance, weather permitting.

Parking will be available at Spranger Field.

South Lyon Police and Fire departments are hosting their open house from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Whipple Street.

Demonstrations, including a live fire and vehicle extrication, will start at 11:30 a.m.

A fire safety smoke house will be set up for the day. Among the attractions, attendees can dress like a firefighter, tour both stations and meet local firefighters and police officers and check out inflatable games.

Officials for both events said hosting open houses are important so people, especially children, can learn who their first are and how to be safe in the event of an emergency.
