A Howell man is behind bars after leading Livingston County Sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase overnight.
According to police, a deputy clocked the motorcyclist traveling 70 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone on Grand River near Hacker around 2:30 am Wednesday.
As the deputy attempted to pull the rider over, he fled westbound on Grand River at speeds reaching 100 mph.
"The suspect eventually turned northbound on Latson Road and then entered into the Glens at Rolling Ridge apartment complex. Once inside the complex the driver left the roadway and attempted to drive into the subdivision to the north of the apartment complex where he lost control before reaching Snowden Lane. The suspect fled on foot after abandoning the motorcycle in the yard of a residence on Snowden Lane."
Witnesses and other evidence helped identify the rider as a 41-year-old Howell resident. He was taken into custody without incident at his residence on Audrey Rae Lane.
The unidentified suspect was booked into the Livingston County Jail for fleeing and eluding along with a parole violation. During the investigation it was determined he had been released on parole from the Michigan Department of Corrections last November.
