The Livingston Centre Historical Society is putting out the call for last-minute donations for its annual “Grandma’s Attic” fundraiser at the Fowlerville Fairgrounds this weekend.
Society Chairperson Erin Voyles said it’s a really big rummage sale “with something for everybody” that they put together every year. Donations of various household goods, clothing, kid toys, tools etc. are being sought. Some items not accepted include computer screens and accessories, tv’s, and no heavy or large furniture. Smaller furniture like side tables and patio furniture is ok.
Donations have been a bit light and will be accepted from 9am to 5pm this Wednesday, at the fairgrounds.
Voyles said once people pull into the Fowlerville Fairgrounds, they make a quick right, and can drop off donations under the big Grandstand. Signage is posted that states “Grandma’s Attic Drop Off” and volunteers will unload vehicles.
The Grandma’s Attic sale runs this Thursday and Friday from 9 to 5pm and this Saturday from 9am to 3pm. It is under a covered structure and out of the elements.
Voyles told WHMI it is a community event that fills various needs. She said after donations are collected, people can come shop - with proceeds supporting the maintenance and restoration of the Livingston Centre Historical Village at the Fowlerville Fairgrounds that consists of eight structures. Voyles said it’s an all-volunteer effort under the fair board to take care of the buildings and keep them in good shape.
Meanwhile, anything left over after the rummage sale is donated to local charities, with Voyles calling it “a true community event that keeps on giving”. She further thanked all of their volunteers as the sale is a lot of work, and everyone involved at the Fowlerville Family Fair.
