A flood warning for portions of the Huron River near Hamburg Township has been extended until Sunday Evening.

The warning comes after last week's severe weather that pounded Livingston County and the entire southeast Michigan area. The National Weather Service issued the warning on Monday, August 28th after water levels of the Huron River measured about 6-7 inches above average.

High waters and flooding is anticipated on or near roadways surrounding the Huron River, such as M-36, Hamburg Road, and local neighborhood roads near Hamburg Township's Chain of Lakes, including Strawberry Lake, Bass Lake, and Zukey Lake, among others.

Flooding is especially serious on Ore Lake.

The Hamburg Township Public Safety Department has issued a "No Wake" request for boaters following high water levels impacting residents on local lakes.

Township Supervisor Pat Hohl requests that boaters observe “No Wake” procedures and slow down in affected waterways until water levels return to normal.

Minor flooding is also in the forecast for areas of Milford and Ann Arbor along the Huron River.

Motorists are advised not to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
